The whole Santa thing

Some people struggle over the whole issue of Santa. Should you tell your child about Santa and "lie" to them but let them enjoy the fun, or should you be honest? I wish I had that issue with Sam. I actually never had a problem with Santa....Emily and Gabe believed in Santa. When I had Sam I thought how fun it would be for all of us (Emily and Gabe included) to do the whole Santa thing with her. Well that's not happening. She has no clue. I've been kind of bummed about that. But the other day I realized that just because at the age of 3 1/2 she's not able to comprehend Christmas and Santa and all of that....it doesn't mean that she won't be able to at the age of 5, or 7, or 15, or 20....it might still happen. And that realization gives me hope. :)

Seriously, I don't think Tommy EVER got the concept. He knew the story, but could NEVER relate it to his real life. And, seeing Santa in the mall put him in "I DON'T THINK SO!!!" mall. The idea of this character coming into his house while he's sleeping.. yeah, not good. I am trying to convince him that Santa is FAKE he's just pretend. But he doesn't believe me because he's at the malls! and on TV! lmao Yeah, there's a flip side to what believing in Santa can be. Its my current HELL . *sigh*

Is Christmas over yet??

Sam is so beautiful! love this pic! You know, in retrospect, I wish we had never done the Santa thing with our kids, for several reasons. So maybe her not getting it isn't so bad. It is pretty ridiculous, when you think of it, lol.

I have no issue with Lily's lack of understanding regarding the Big Man. She'll eventually still dig Christmas one way or the other.

This is the first year my daughter has shown any enthusiasm or realization of the concept of Santa and she is almost 6. It could still happen. :)

Oh...yeah. Squeaker didn't know a thing about Christmas or Santa until this year (he turned 5 in October). Now he can identify Santa and loves the Christmas movies, but I'm still not so sure he GETS what exactly Santa DOES. I want to tell people who try to talk him into being good because of Santa that he really doesn't GET IT...But we're getting there! I'm sure Sam will too!
